Dr. Shirley K. Nah is a general surgeon who pairs rigorous surgical training with a commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. She joins Texas Advanced Surgical & Bariatrics to serve patients across San Antonio, including the growing Far West San Antonio community at our Westover Hills clinic.
Shirley K. Nah, M.D. is a general surgeon at Texas Advanced Surgical and Bariatrics. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), where she served as Administrative Chief Resident and Chair of the Didactics Committee. She has passed the American Board of Surgery Qualifying Exam and is board eligible.
Dr. Nah earned her medical degree from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Wellesley College. During residency she spent three years as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Surgery Branch of the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health, caring for patients on immunotherapy clinical trials and training in surgical oncology operative techniques.
Her research has been published in journals including Science, Nature Medicine, Cancer Cell, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and she received the NCI Surgical Oncology Program Surgeon-Scientist Award. At UT Health San Antonio she was honored with the Outstanding Resident Educator Award and the Outstanding Resident Leader Award. A longtime San Antonio community volunteer, Dr. Nah is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered surgical care.
