David J. Straus IV, M.D. is a dedicated general surgeon with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques. Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Straus brings specialized expertise in Robotic Surgery, Revisional Bariatric Surgery, and Robotic Abdominal Wall Reconstruction to his practice at Texas Advanced Surgical and Bariatrics.
A sixth-generation Texan, Dr. Straus graduated from Washington and Lee University with a degree in Neuroscience before returning to San Antonio to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center. He completed his general surgery residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he gained comprehensive experience in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. His training was further enhanced by a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of California – San Diego, where he honed his skills in cutting-edge surgical techniques.
Dr. Straus is committed to advancing patient care through innovative surgical practices, and his recent publications reflect his dedication to the field. He is an active member of the surgical community and is passionate about providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
